Meetings of Hospitality Europe and the Europe Commission
On Monday and Tuesday, 13-14 March, the General Meeting of Hospitality Europe (the Order’s European Union office) and the meeting of the Europe Commission were held at the General Curia of the Hospitaller Order.
The General Meeting of Hospitality Europe was attended by Sister Maria Begoña Pérez representing the Sisters Hospitallers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus who are members. with the Order, of the Hospitality Europe office. Dr Galasso updated the members of the Association on the work undertaken in Brussels in recent months, particularly the drafting of the application for funding for the new European project with centres involving people with disabilities in competitive and non-competitive physical activities and sport. Once again, the office will be given 25,000 euro again from the Ecclesia insurance company, which has been supporting its work for several years already. The meeting then illustrated Europe’s policies for providing health care for refugees and migrants, which is a hugely topical issue, that will be taken up at the European Congress of the Order’s Nursing schools.
The Europe Commission meeting analysed the work begun on the Subcommissions on Vocations Promotion and Formation, the Pastoral Care of the Sick and Care for the Homeless. Brother Alain-Samuel Jeancler reported on the formation module for Provincial executives and middle management held in Granada in January, and on the second part scheduled to be held in Rome in November.
Lastly, Brother Rudolf Knopp illustrated the proposals drawn up for the reorganisation of the Europe Commission to be debated and voted on at the next Assembly of Major Superiors.
The next meetings of Hospitality Europe and the Europe Commission will be held on 30 and 31 October this year, at the General Curia in Rome.
